Homework (Review of Unit 1 Shapes and Design)

Hey Guys,

Today, we have reviewed our first unit Shapes and Design.

Your Homework is to do the partner quiz:

Page 1

Page 2

Here are some of the Mathematical concepts we have covered in Unit 1: SHAPES AND DESIGN

  • Estimating Angle Measurement
  • Regular Polygon and Irregular Polygon
  • Angles: Complimentary Angles and Supplementary Angles
  • Interior Sum of Triangles is 180 degree
  • Interior Sum of Quadrilaterals is 360 degrees
  • Interior Sum of Any Polygons (5 side- Pentagon; 6-side- Hexagon)
  • Parallelograms
  • Exterior Angle
  • Parallel Lines and Transversal

Use this checklist as guidance for Review.

Have a nice weekend!!

HW 3.4 Parallel Lines and Transversals

Hey Everyone,

Today we talked about how parallel lines are cut by Transversal lines and we get 8 angles.  We also talked about Vertical Angles.

When two lines intersect at a point (Vertex), 4 angles are formed and the opposite pair of angles are equal and they are called Vertical Angles.

Your Homework is:

You know one of the Angle is 150 degree, FIND ALL OTHER ANGLES.

Use your knowledge of Vertical angles to help you guide.

Classifying Triangles

Hey Y'all!

Today, we learned how to classify triangles by both their sides and angles.
Your homework is to complete the classification worksheet that you started at Station 2 today
AND
Choose any 3 different triangle classifications to use as an example to:
explain and justify in your notebook, how you know the triangle's classification.

FOR EXAMPLE:
This is an obtuse scalene triangle because all three angles have different measurements. If the angles are different, I know that the side lengths are also all unequal. A possible set of side length measurements for this triangle can be: 4cm, 6cm, 11cm. I also know that this is an obtuse triangle because one of the angles is obtuse.

Homework Today

We already know the following:

  1. The Sum of Interior Angle  of Any and Every Triangle is 180 degree.
  2. The Sum of Interior Angle of Any and Every Quadrilateral is 360 degree.
 What Do You Think?

3) The Sum of Exterior Angle of any polygon is ___

Write a written explanation of what do you think the sum of the exterior angle of any polygon is.

Long Weekend Packet

Hey Y'all!

For this 4-day long weekend, we have a four page packet for you to complete. But don't fear, you don't have to do every question.

We want you to finish every question except: 18, 29, 30, or 31.

You may choose to do them for extra credit (although you'd need a protractor for some of the questions)

If you have any questions, please leave a comment and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Y'all,

This is an update to the blog reminding you that there was no HW tonight :)
Please come in ready tomorrow to show off your hard work!

Homework for Tuesday (09/19/17)

Draw a polygon with 7 sides (Heptagon) and determine the following:

1) Number of Sides

2) Number of Triangle that can fit inside

3) Total Sum of Interior angle

**Note: Number the Vertex will help you count the total number of sides and how many triangles that can fit inside.

Practicing Angles

Sorry y'all for the late post! Here are the questions that I'd like for you guys to practice:

Guesstimating Angle Measurements

Hey y'all!

Please apply what you learned about benchmark angles (0, 90, and 180) to guesstimate the angle measurements of the following five angles.
Next to each angle, explain how to arrived at your guesstimate! Which benchmark angles did you use to help you figure it out?

701 & 703: Homework for Thursday 09/14/17

Your Task: Draw one sketch measure of Rotation and Angles for each of the following given angles:

1) 25 degrees

2) 75 degrees

3)190 degrees

4) 300 degrees

NOTES:

**One Sketch for every single angle.  So you should have 4 Sketches.

Right Angles

Today, we talked all about right angles.

We analyzed everything that we know about a right angle.

We analyzed what we know about two right angles (back to back).

For HW:
  • We would like you to describe and explain everything that you know about three right angles back to back. What does it look like? Can you match any numbers to it? How do you know how many degrees it measures to?
  • Describe and explain everything that you know about four right angles back to back.

Welcome to the 7th Grade!

Hey Y'all!

Welcome to the 7th grade. As promised, you will see a copy of the 701/703 welcome letter at the bottom of this post.

Tonight's homework is to:

  • decorate your Unit 1 page in both your classwork and homework notebook
  • draw 3 examples of each:
  1. Polygon
  2. Non-Polygon
  3. triangle
  4. Quadrilateral
  5. Pentagon
  6. Hexagon

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Students/Parents/Guardians,
Mr. Rahman and Ms. Wang would like to welcome your child to the 7th Grade at Blueprint Middle School! We will be your child’s 7th grade math teachers. We are very excited about working with you and your child. We know we will have a successful and productive school year in Room 233.
As we begin the 2017-2018 school year, we would like to remind you that Blueprint Middle School is a uniform school. Our expectations are that each student will arrive according to the appropriate dress code, which is as follows: blue polo, navy blue pants, and black sneakers.
Additionally, your child will need the following supplies for class by Monday, September 18, 2017:
1.    1 Spiral Notebook (college-ruled for homework)
2.    1 Grid-Lined Spiral Notebook (for classwork)
3.    2 Folders (one for classwork and one for homework)
4.    Pencils – (we only use pencils in math!!!)
5.    Erasers
There are many ways you can support your child’s academic progress at home:
1.    Ask your child what they learned in school every day.
2.    Encourage your child to ask questions in class and come in for extra help when they need it. We are available before school, during lunch, and after school!
3.    Make sure you receive your child’s progress report once every trimester!
Please contact us with any concerns or questions you have at any time. You do not have to wait until parent/teacher conferences to get in touch with us; we are always willing to talk to you. We look forward to frequent communication with you as we work together to ensure your child’s success.
Feel free to contact us at any time via email:
Mr. Rahman: arafatrahman2017@gmail.com
Ms. Wang: dwang@blueprintms.org
Sincerely,
Mr. Rahman and Ms. Wang
Class Expectations
There are two expectations for all students and members of the Blueprint Middle School community: that we demonstrate respect and responsibility at all times.
Learning Choices
When you choose to ignore these expectations, this is the process we will use to help you get back on track:
1.    Verbal Warning
2.    Detention/phone call home
3.    Referral to Dean
Syracuse Trip
Every year, Blueprint Middle School invites our 7th grade students to an overnight free field trip to visit our Principal Ms. Harrington’s alma mater, Syracuse University. Though the official dates for this school year has not been confirmed yet, this field trip often takes place at the end of May or at the beginning of June. More information will be discussed during the 7th grade orientation that will be held at the end of September.
Class Blog
Please follow us at www.blueprintmath701703.blogspot.com for class announcements, reminders, and homework. We will be updating the blog everyday so that both students and parents can have access to the day’s homework assignments, so even on days that students are absent, they’ll have the opportunity to keep up with the work!
PS: Please bring in a re-usable water bottle—it saves plastic and time spent out of the classroom going to the water fountain J
Please do all the problems for Homework. Probability= (Number of Possible Outcome/ Total number of outcomes)
